‘Pedestal’ will be Fox’s first solo exhibition in Melbourne for five years and her first with Gallerysmith. This new series of paintings considers the notion that ideas which can be held as a beacon of hope may sometimes be flawed, and that this ‘fall from grace’ can often be a heartbreaking crash back to reality. Despite this, these works retain the exquisite beauty for which the artist’s work is known. They are centered on a core idea of a loss of faith, but a beautiful collapse. – Smith.
