For six months in 2018 three glass sculptures were realised with the expert guidance and talents of master glass blowers Gert Burlee and Geir Nustad from The Glaslab at the National Glas Museum in Leerdam, Netherlands. This was the first glass project Fox had embarked upon. The resulting works ‘6 Letters’ and ‘3 Days’ are direct portraits based on two unnamed women’s reports of self harm that were leaked to the Guardian Newspaper in 2015 whilst in detention in Nauru, for seeking asylum in Australia. The works have been shown in Sydney, Australia for a curated exhibition ‘All We Can’t See’ and ‘Op de vriendschapi’ for the curated glass exhibition at the Gemeentemuseum in Den Haag, Netherlands. The following photos show the working process of how these works were made.
